Any Table Top RPG players here?
Posted by Tenbones on January 25, 2022 at 2:47 pmI’ve been running weekly games forever, did a lot of writing and some publishing for a few big games. Anyone else here play? And if so – what do you play?

Never played any tabletop games. None of my friends in high school played tabletop games and I don’t have any friends now. I would like to play Settlers of Catan and Dnd.

Settlers of Catan is fun – but it’s a boardgame, not a TTRPG.
DnD is a TTRPG (I used to write for them) – but they’re now a horrible SJW shitshow filled with the same people that ruined comics.
In fact, I’d say a lot of the problems people see in SJW pop-culture started long before in the TTRPG fandom. Sad to say.
If you want to check out a cool TTRPG – skip DND (it’s a cumbersome system) check out Savage Worlds. I’m in the middle of designing my own game, and would love to run something for Rippa and any Dallas folks. Hmm… might be a nice project.

I’d love to play a TTRPG but I’m not sure if I could find a group of people to play with and I’ve got so many other things to do in terms of hobbies so I probably don’t have the time.

I played dnd in the early 2000s and it was a good time. We’d go camping and play in the tent after it got dark. Some of my fondest memories. I haven’t touched it in quite a while, sad and somewhat unsurprised that it became another Avenue for SJWs to express their feelings of inadequacy.
-
Yeah – I was writing for them around this period. But you could see the proto-SJW elements in the fandom infiltrating. It was definitely there.
Now? It makes the SJW’s in comic fandom look like the Tomas Sowell Fanclub. It’s *that* bad.

I play in a weekly Genesys game via Discord. Currently it’s sort of a weird war meets Hellboy campaign
-
I own Genesys – it’s a fun system. Technically I’ve never played Genesys straight, I’ve run the Edge of the Empire game with Genesys bits tossed in for years.
It’s not perfect, but it’s a fun system

Been an Exalted player since it first came out in 2001. I have observed firsthand the incursion of SJW ideas to TTRPGs first before other games and comics. The latest edition of Exalted is not only cumbersome but the world building has suffered a lot for it. Back in the day, it was quite something
-
Exalted?!?!? You poor poor man. White Wolf is where a lot of the SJW shit started… I think I own everything from White Wolf prior to them going fully insane.
They’re unrecognizable now.
-
Wouldn’t it be interesting to document the story of SJW shit in WW? I can’t quite tell when it exactly started or which line it happened in or whether it was a general company wokification. But I know that in Exalted the transition to 3rd edition around 2010s was already beginning to be full of it. The state of it now is just beyond recovery.

It was always “there” – insofar that the devs there were “liberal” but easily got pulled into virtue-signaling blindly without really considering the bullshit they were saying vs. the content they were producing.
I pin it around 2008 when it really started. Some of their freelancers became Moderators on the RPG.Net forum – and that cesspit went INSANE. They have a sub-forum there where they routinely ban people and put the offender on display where they can’t respond, for public shaming.
I shit you not. It’s insanity on display. Case in point – user the other day was given ban for using the term “Sacred Cows” – because the Mods there say that in offensive to Indians whose Hindu culture reveres cows, which according to the Mods is racist.
This is the tip of a GIGANTIC shitberg. White Wolf is filled morons that think this way.

I know this is an old forum, but table top games are so cool. I played DnD during my time in the military and it was a lot of fun. I ran my own campaign a few years ago. I really miss playing it. I’ve also recently started looking into Battle tech; that looks like a lot of fun too. I hope to give it a try some day.

I love table top. been wanting to play but growing up in the couldn’t find people who where into anything nerdy, and when i got older everyone that could play with became raging leftist. Moved out of cali to rural georgia so now i cant find people to play with. good news is i left cali in 2018

I had a group of friends that would get together for a weekend each month throughout middle school up through college. We used to have a ton of fun with it – the system we used was GURPS (Generic Universal RolePlaying System).
Recently I’ve gotten into D&D and am actually using it to help myself flesh out ideas for one of my own stories.
