"Woke" Character creators in games
Star Wars: The old Republic came out with a new “expansion” today, and they made changes to the character creator. It’s a Bioware game, and they made Mass Effect, and I kind of felt that the Character creation in Mass Effect: Andromeda was kind weird and leaning toward that way, but still, they didn’t allow facial hair on a female character as an option. With this new expansion for SW:TOR they have allowed it. I attached a photo, not really a peep from the forums crowd. Some say it’s more modern, others say it might be a bug because chiss are allowed facial hair too, and that’s not supposed to be right. No outright objections.
I bought a game last November called Icarus: first cohort, which I returned the day I bought it. Not because of the character creator but because it was unplayable on my rig at the time. On it’s character creation screen, there wasn’t male or female but instead masculine or feminine. Both body types were basically the same, flat chested and broad shoulders, the masculine was just taller. It seemed like they were going for a non binary look.
Anyway, i don’t play that wide of a variety of games, so just wondering if anyone else can chime in and tell me if they have noticed this too. Is this rare, or is it the new normal now and I’ve missed it. Bioware has been on it for over a decade now, so it surprise me so much. I wonder if they thought this would help save their dying MMO though
